Pag Island is known as one of the sunniest islands in the Adriatic with over 2 500 hours of sunshine annually. It is also called “lunar island” because its appearance resembles the moon’s surface – its bare and raw nature and scalding rocks make it unique. It is almost entirely covered with salt which the wind Bora spreads from the Velebit channel. Only in the far north of the island (in Lun) there is more developed vegetation which is reflected in the numerous agricultural lands enclosed by stone walls, olive and holm oak groves.

Islands traditional specialtiesIn Lun and nearby towns exist several excellent restaurants and cellars that will present the cutting-edge specialties of Pag . You definitely have to try the famous cheese. The specialty of this cheese lies in the peculiarities of the island, in its marvelous vegetation that is scarce but special because of the aromatic herbs, or saklt sediment, brought by the wind (bura). Another specialty of the island, a by-product in the manufacture of cheese is the Pag cottage cheese which has its own flavor, reminiscent of the Italian ricotta.
Pag’s lamb
Pag’s lamb has a specific flavor due to the space where the indigenous sheep lives and where it eats. Aromatic herbs and salt sediment make this special taste meat an excellent specialty.
